Setting up card controls and alerts

You can use debit card controls and alerts to manage your debit card and spending capabilities in real time. It is easiest to think of controls as being where your card can be used and alerts as notifications telling you about your card usage. Read on for some instances on why you might want to utilize controls and alerts, and how to set these up within the UBTgo Debit Cards section.
Location
You can set up location controls to choose the specific locations where you want your card to work and/or receive alerts. These are set up based on region, using an interactive map to move and zoom over the desired area. Once you have it set, give the region a name and click Save. You can add multiple regions that are preset and then update them in real time when you are traveling. If you want your card to work anywhere, simply toggle My Regions off. You can also turn off and/or get alerted to any international transactions by clicking the toggle for International on or off. Please note, you will still need to set up a travel notice on your debit card when traveling.
Additionally, you can set up your device's location, and if a debit card transaction is attempted outside of that location, it will be denied.
Merchant types
Utilizing controls and alerts based on merchant types allows you to control what types of merchants or retailers you would like your card to work and/or receive alerts for. These include department stores, gas stations, travel, age-restricted retailers, and more. Simply find the merchant type in the Controls and/or the Alerts sections and toggle them on or off.
Transactions
Transaction controls and alerts allow you to add additional layers of control to where your debit card can be used and when you receive alerts. You can set these up to only allow your card to be used in-store, online, at ATMs, etc. or to receive an alert when your card is used for any of these transaction types. It is important to note that a new card will have all transactions allowed and no alerts set up.
To turn on transaction controls, simply click the toggle for Enable Transaction Controls, then toggle on the transaction types below that you want to allow and click Apply. For transaction alerts, simple toggle on the transaction types that you would like to be notified about and click Apply.
Spend limits
Spend limits allow you to set a predetermined dollar limit for a debit card transaction. Any transaction exceeding that limit will be declined. To set this up, navigate to Spend Limits and then toggle on the Per Transaction option. From there, enter the dollar amount and click Apply. You can always turn this on and off in the event you need to spend more at any given time.
You can also set up alerts for when a transaction is attempted that exceeds a predetermined dollar amount. To set this up, navigate to Spend Limits under the Alerts section and then toggle on the Per Transaction option. From there, enter the dollar amount and click Apply.
When utilizing the spend limits alerts and controls, it's important to note that you will not be making any changes to your debit card limit if you set an alert for an amount over your limit. Additional alert options
You can also fine-tune your debit card alerts by transaction types, locations, amounts, and merchants you would like to be notified by selecting Alert for selected transactions. However, you can also simply choose to receive alerts for all debit card transactions or to receive no alerts for debit card transactions. To change these, select the radial button next to the appropriate option under the Alerts section of Controls & Alerts.
